PreAnalytiX supports a range of EU-funded projects with its extensive expertise in preanalytical procedures. In many cases, the importance of these initiatives extends well beyond their official project timelines.
A notable example is the EU-funded SPIDIA project (2008–2013) and its successor, the SPIDIA4P project (2017–2021), which built upon SPIDIA’s results and received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The consortium successfully initiated, developed, and implemented a comprehensive portfolio of 14 additional pan-European preanalytical CEN/TS and ISO/IS standards, as well as External Quality Assessment (EQA) schemes. These efforts address critical preanalytical workflows in personalized medicine.
As these standards continue to be reviewed and progressively transitioned from CEN/TS to full ISO standards—and as the importance of the preanalytical phase gains broader recognition—the project partners remain committed to advancing their mission through ongoing and future EU-funded initiatives.
