The PAXgene Bone Marrow RNA System consists of PAXgene Bone Marrow RNA Tubes for stabilization, storage, and transportation of human bone marrow samples and the PAXgene Bone Marrow RNA Kit for silica-membrane-based isolation and purification of intracellular RNA. The system provides a complete preanalytical solution from on-site stabilization and storage through rapid and efficient purification of high-quality RNA.

Simple collection procedure

A 2 ml sample of the bone marrow aspirate is added to an open PAXgene Bone Marrow RNA Tube. The tube cap is reinserted, and the tube is inverted a few times. Now the sample is ready to be stored, shipped, or processed. The intracellular RNA in a bone marrow aspirate sample stored in the PAXgene Bone Marrow Tube is stable for days at room temperature (15–25°C) and longer at refrigerated temperatures (2–8°C), depending upon the target transcript(s) of interest. Users must validate stability of target transcripts of interest. Bone marrow aspirate samples can be stored frozen (–20°C or –70°C) in the PAXgene Bone Marrow Tube.

 

Unique stabilization chemistry

The PAXgene Bone Marrow RNA Tubes contain a patented additive that protects RNA from degradation and prevents changes in mRNA levels that commonly arise in stored specimens. Specifically, the additive triggers complete lysis of all cells and the cessation of cellular processes, halting gene expression changes. The additive forms complexes with the released nucleic acids, protecting them against enzymatic degradation and enabling subsequent precipitation of the nucleic acids by centrifugation. RNA is protected for days at room and refrigerated temperatures, which allows easy shipment of specimens. Archiving is possible over several months when frozen, without impact on RNA integrity or transcript levels, even after multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

 

Easy and effective RNA purification

The PAXgene Bone Marrow RNA Kit includes the reagents to isolate and purify RNA stabilized in PAXgene Bone Marrow RNA Tubes. The chemistry of each kit reagent has been optimized to generate high and reproducible RNA yields with no enzymatic inhibitors, making the resulting RNA suitable for even the most sensitive downstream applications. The silica-membrane technology binds RNA and allows contaminants in the sample to be washed away. Plus, because the purification takes place in easy-to-use spin columns, the procedure is quick and straightforward.
